Forget-Me-Not

We did a lot of hiking up in the San Juans this year. The flowers were not as prolific this year but we did capture the precious few we could. I have to thank my son and my dad for being patient with Anna and me for all the stops we had to make to take pictures.

Forget-Me-Nots are tiny flowers, only about a quarter of an inch wide and growing in clumps. Here is a study of these pretty guys.

First, the pencil drawing.

Then I inked the drawing and removed the pencil.

Finally, the watercolor. I like it but I’ll do it over again a few times to get a better feel for it.

Tulips

I was on a roll with the last few paintings in the Fifty at Fifty series. I like these especially much.

Letting Them Go

“What are you going to do with them when you’re finished?” That was the question. I’ve gifted a few to close friends, family, and supporters. Sold a few. A few will go into a gift shop booth in Roanoke, Virginia. I may open an Etsy shop. If you’d like one, please sent me an email.

Graceful Tulips

Painting number fifty in the Fifty at Fifty series. I did it!!!!  Woo-hoo!!!! This is another rendering of the lovely tulips from my dear husband.

Working on this series of fifty paintings has been challenging, absorbing, educational, fun, and very very rewarding.

So here you are, painting #50 in the series, “Graceful Tulips.”

Fresh Tulips

Quite a few years ago, my dear husband bought me a beautiful bouquet of yellow, orange, and red tulips and they were so beautiful that ever since then, tulips have been my very favorite flower. I took a few snapshots of those memorable flowers just as they passed their peaks, over-opening and drooping but still gorgeous.

I painted this piece without first doing a drawing, which I usually do, so I could enjoy a bit more relaxed type of creating.

Fifty at Fifty #49. Yes, my friends, #49.
