I learned about Every Day Matters (EDM) challenges when I stumbled upon the QuirkyArtist blog at the end of May, 2012. The author was finishing up a series of EDM (Every Day in May) challenges. What great drawings! What interesting subjects! I wanted to join in right way. I found an Every Day in June page on Facebook; we continued into July with the Facebook page Every Day in June/July.
My drawing skills have improved dramatically since I’ve been doing the challenges, and best of all I discovered that I’m really a drawer, a sketcher, not a painter. Okay, I can paint, but it’s painful. Drawing is a joy.
Now that July is coming to a close, I am planning to start working on the original EDM list created by artist Karen Winters. Karen’s latest list of challenges is listed here.
Artist Danny Gregory has expanded upon the idea with a series of books, a website, and blog. I’ve really enjoyed his book, An Illustrated Life, and plan to add more of his inspiring books to my collection.
